Linux Professional Institute
LPI develops its certification program around these values, which we believe make it the best certification available:
- Relevance: LPI certifies for the technical skills required for a well-defined type of job.
- Quality: The LPI certification exams go through an extensive validation process, following psychometric standards.
- Neutrality: LPI is a non-profit organization involved only with setting standards for professional certification.
- Supported: LPI serves Linux professionals and the organizations that contract them.
-
Notes:
This is based on a survey among hundreds of experienced professionals working in a relevant function, defining the tasks and skills they actually need for their job.
This checks their consistency and the power of the test items to discriminate between competent and not-yet-competent individuals, and sets the pass|fail cut score at an optimal value.
It is independent of vendors of Linux distributions, training, etc. For LPI, certification is not a marketing tool to push product.
We have attracted wide support from stakeholders in the Linux world, as shown by our Advisory Council and sponsors.
