Linux is the “Next Big Thing” when it comes to server platforms. However, for most network administrators, Linux is surrounded by arcane terms. Blended Systems has put together a set of tools to assist people going for the Linux Professional Certifications. The learning aids were written prior to taking the LPI tests so are not brain dumps. As always, we feel that if you know the topic well, you can pass the tests.

ZENworks Tools

Appdeploy is a free collection of tools useful for repackaging Microsoft’s MSIs and MSTs to customize them for a ZENworks for Desktops deployment.

SysInternals is a set of Freeware utilities related to Windows platforms. Find out who has access to what directories, files and Registry keys, bypass the Windows password screen on login, etc.

Dependency Walker is a free utility that scans 32- or 64-bit
Windows modules and builds a hierarchical tree diagram of all dependent modules.

ZENith Professional (Paid) is an automation utility for all versions of ZENworks. It enables you to duplicate multiple ZENworks objects to multiple containers.

ENGL Imaging Toolkit™ (Paid) simplifies ZENworks imaging and automates Windows 2000/XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 deployments.

General

Daemon Tools ISO mounter (Free) lets you mount an ISO file as if it were a in a CD/DVD drive.

VMware^® Player (Free) lets you evaluate new or pre-release software contained in virtual machines, without any installation or configuration hassles. You can also share existing virtual machines with colleagues or friends—just use VMware Player to run any virtual machine. Download Player.

WinISO (Paid) is a CD-ROM image file utility that can convert BIN to ISO, extract/edit/create ISO files directly, make bootable CDs and as a BIN/ISO converter/extractor/editor.

WinImage (Paid) is a fully-fledged disk-imaging suite for easy creation, reading and editing of many image formats and filesystems, including DMF, VHD, FAT, ISO, NTFS and Linux.

SynEdit (Free) is an advanced multi-line edit control, for Borland Delphi, Kylix (Kylix is supported into latest cvs) and C++Builder. It supports Syntax Highlighting and code completion, it does include exporters for html, tex and rtf.
